Murrays 3 love interests testify…

Posted on: 4th October 2011

Conrad Murray’s beautiful past and current girlfriends testified at his manslaughter trial Tuesday that they were on the phone with him the day that Michael Jackson died while in his care.

Prosecutors showed call and text logs between the then-married doctor and the women from June 25, 2009, including a call made to Sade Anding, a waitress who met Murray in a Houston steakhouse in 2009.

Anding testified she and Murray were chatting for about five minutes, just short of noon, when she realized that Murray was no longer on the phone and had apparently put the phone in his pocket without hanging up.

“I said, ‘Hello? Hello?’ ” Anding testified. But, according to earlier testimony, Murray’s next phone call was to Jackson’s personal assistant, alerting him that Jackson had a bad reaction to medication.

Prosecutors allege Murray abandoned Jackson, pumping him full of propofol – a toxic sedative normally used in hospitals for surgeries – and did not watch him or use a breathing monitor that could be heard in the next room. Paramedics and doctors testified Jackson was dead too long for them to be able to revive him.

Other women who testified Monday they communicated with Murray on the day of Jackson’s death were:

• Michelle Bella, who recalled meeting Murray at a club in Las Vegas in 2008 – the year before Jackson died. (She got a text message from him; the other women spoke on the phone.)

• Bridgette Morgan, a Los Angeles-based girlfriend of Murray’s from 2003 to 2009.

• Nicole Alvarez, an actress in TV commercials who shares a son and an apartment with the cardiologist.

Alvarez appeared unfazed by taking the same stand as Murray’s ex loves. She had jurors smirking with her bubbly recollections of meeting Jackson and showing him her baby bump.

“Michael was very interested in the baby,” Alvarez testified. “He saw my stomach grow with the visits.”

MJ Purfume on the horizon? Estate shut Joe Jackson down

Posted on: 8th August 2011

There will be a Michael Jackson line of perfumes, but it won’t be coming from Michael’s father, Joseph. I can tell you exclusively that the Michael Jackson estate is in negotiations right now to market its own brands through a conventional big time cosmetics company. The perfume has been created, the bottles are being deisgned, and a name is being decided upon. It will not be called “Thriller,” says a source who’s working on the project.

But it’s not a bad idea. Neither are “Bad,” “Dangerous,” “Invincible” or “Off the Wall” (the latter could be body spray!). What’s NOT happening: a line of perfumes from Michael’s father, Joe Jackson.

Indeed, the estate is spending extra time shutting Jackson senior down as he makes pronouncements about new businesses he’s dreaming up to exploit his late son’s likeness. Recently, Jackson proclaimed on his website that he and a German firm – UD Group International – a firm with ties to Michael’s one time manager Dieter Wiesner, had somehow gotten the rights in that country to Michael’s name. However, the Jackson estate insists this isn’t true, and that they are contacting their German lawyers to set matters straight.

On the website, Joe Jackson can be seen hocking his own line of “champagne,” and carrying on about his new ventures. He tried to launch his own perfume line during the Cannes Film Festival, but that’s been scotched. He also told this reporter about his plans for Neverland style hotels. “That will not be happening,” said an estate source. “We think Joe knows all these things are pipe dreams. He just likes to do the traveling and get the attention,” said my source.

Meanwhile, the Estate is looking forward to opening night in Montreal on October 2nd, when Cirque du Soleil unveils its Michael Jackson show. Tickets are on sale in several cities. After Montreal, the show heads to Las Vegas. What’s happening here is really interesting: in death, Michael Jackson is now becoming a big, big business, bigger than he could have envisioned.

Jermaine releases new statement about his upcoming book

Posted on: 28th July 2011

Jermaine has released the following statement regarding his upcoming book in response to fans comments about the books timing after his and Randy’s statement regarding the timing of the upcoming tribute ‘Michael Forever’:

Many of you have asked about my book’s timing in light of my comments about the tribute concert, so let me explain.

When I first signed the book deal, the agreed publication date was October 13. When the courts moved the trial date from June to September, that meant the book would come out in the middle of those proceedings — an outcome I couldn’t allow.

Once I explained this to the UK & US publishers, they both understood and acted swiftly, going to great lengths to rearrange their ‘locked in’ schedules.

I was offered two alternative publication dates: first week November or second week September. To avoid a potential clash with any jury deliberations/verdict in the November, I agreed September 13 because it’s BEFORE the trial’s start on September 20.

Where my publishers listened and acted to avoid conflict with the trial, Global Live, the promoters behind the tribute concert, heard my same concerns and stuck to their October 8th concert date. There is the difference.

I will not be promoting the book or doing any book signings after September 20 and until the trial has ended.

Judge Rules ‘No’ to THIS IS IT Footage for Jury

Posted on: 25th July 2011

Raw video clips of Michael Jackson’s last rehearsals will not be shown in the involuntary manslaughter trial of the late pop singer’s personal physician, the judge ruled Monday.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor spent several hours at Sony Pictures Studio on Friday reviewing about a dozen hours of video that prosecutors or defense lawyers proposed for the jury to see.

“It was a waste of my time,” Pastor said.

It was not immediately clear if the prosecution would still be allowed to show parts of the “This Is It” documentary about Jackson’s preparations for his London comeback shows.

Defense lawyers had suggested clips “left on the cutting room” floor by the documentary editors might show that Jackson was in failing health in the days before his June 25, 2009, death.

“It’s quite the contrary,” Pastor said.

Lawyers for each side spent two weeks this month viewing more than 100 hours of video, narrowing down what they thought was relevant to the case. The prosecution selected 12 hours of video, while the defense identified four.

Defense lawyer Michael Flanagan said after a hearing last Wednesday that the video showed him that Jackson was “very talented, that he’s pretty good; even on his bad days, he’s good.”

The defense was looking for clues in the video to show that Jackson was in ill health in his final days, but Flanagan said it was not detectable in his performance video. Jackson also did not appear to be depressed in his final days, he said.

The defense will argue that none of the “This Is It” video is relevant to the criminal trial and would be “a big waste of time.”

“It shows him onstage performing,” Flanagan said. “I don’t know why that’s relevant as to what happened the night that he died when he couldn’t sleep.”

Jury selection in the trial is set to begin on September 8 in a Los Angeles County courtroom, with opening statements later in the month.

Jackson Family to Announce ‘thriller’ of Concert Tribute

Posted on: 22nd July 2011

Members of Michael Jackson’s family have called a press conference for Monday in Beverly Hills to announce a concert tribute to the late pop star that will benefit charities in the U.S. and the United Kingdom.

Jackson’s mother, Katherine, will be joined at the Beverly Hills Hotel by his siblings Marlon, Tito, Jackie and LaToya to reveal details of the tribute, with strong hints in the press release that it will focus on Jackson’s “Thriller” album. The press release issued Thursday referred to the concert as a “thriller of an event,” which is being coordinated by the family members and promoter Global Live Events, not Jackson’s estate.

A spokeswoman for the event said no other information is available until Monday’s press conference. Pop & Hiss will carry more details after the announcement.

Michael Tops Disney Dance Chart

Posted on: 21st July 2011

Michael Jackson has topped a poll of the greatest dance moments ever captured on film and actually made the top five list not once, but twice!

The King of Pop’s famous zombie dance in the “Thriller” video was voted number one in the Disney Channel survey and beat out the cast of High School Musical and their performance of “We’re All In This Together.”

Rounding out the poll were dancer Tobias Mead’s amazing audition for UK TV show Britain’s Got Talent in 2010 for third place; Jackson’s iconic “Smooth Criminal” video in fourth place; and Hannah Montana’s “Hoedown Throwdown” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” video tied for fifth place.

In the Disney Channel survey Jackson was also named the King of Dance, ahead of British boy band JLS, High School Musical star Zac Efron, and singer/actor Justin Timberlake.

Trial Judge will watch Michael’s Rehearsal Footage

Posted on: 21st July 2011

The judge in the case against Michael Jackson’s personal physician said Wednesday that he will review about 12 hours of raw footage of the singer’s rehearsals shortly before his death to see if it should be shown to jurors, but he downplayed a defense suggestion that the jury be sequestered.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor said he will visit Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City to review the footage, which prosecutors contend should be admissible in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray.

Defense attorneys claim most of the footage is irrelevant, simply showing the singer performing.

Pastor said he expected to be able to review the footage by this weekend. Another hearing in the case is scheduled for Monday.
