Sony: It Is Michael. Honest.

Posted in: 9th November 2010

SONY are doing everything they can to convince the world that it is Michael’s vocals on the ‘new’ song; ‘Breaking News’. Many fans think that the vocals are that of an imposter. It is undeniable that if it is Michael’s voice, it has been harshly cut and edited to become something that it originally wasn’t. Any true Michael Jackson vocal is instantly recognisable, no doubts, no concerns. He was of course world famous for having one of the most easily recognisable and identifiable voices in history.

Updates to come…

Hopefully.

Or is this just some downtime?

REAL Breaking News from Sony: “’Breaking News’ is not Michael Jackson”

Posted in: 9th November 2010

Sources inside Sony Music finally seem to have admitted, the ‘new’ ‘Michael Jackson’ single…. is not sung by Michael Jackson, at least up to 50% they claim. The revelations confirmed what thousands of fans were claiming all over the world yesterday as the track was released amid allegations from the Jackson family including Michael’s children, that some of the vocals used on a number of new Michael Jackson tracks to be included on the forthcoming release “Michael” in December, were not those of the late King of Pop.

An acapella of the track minus the over-produced backing audio surfaced on YouTube earlier today which confirms the vocals are not those of Michael Jackson. The “50% not MJ” admission from Sony Music seems to throw the entire project’s release into doubt.

You can listen to the new acapella and decided for yourself, here: http://tiny.cc/9v444

More on this as we get it…

Shedding some light on ‘Breaking News’

Posted in: 8th November 2010

To protect those who explained everything to me, I will be using fictitious names to protect them. I have known them for many many years. Charlie as we’ll call him works for Sony and has an extensive background in audio engineering, producing, and music management. Once I heard the track and all the drama that has followed he was the first person I reached out to for some answers. As we know, the family only sends cryptic notes and with everyone posting on twitter from Teddy Riley, to Frank Cascio on facebook, what are we, the fans, left to believe? If anything there are far more questions now than answers.

“The fact is, at this point no one knows what tracks are what.”Charlie tells me. “The tracks that are listed for the upcoming album everyone besides those closely working on the project, are confused as to what is what. Some may have been recorded in 2007 or 2008 but damn it’s a mess.” Sitting in an office today w/ a high level Sony executive (again I will leave out who exactly it was), the man is laughing within the first 3 lines of “Breaking News” Charlie sits back and says, “wow, really?” “Of course hardly any of this is Michael” he tells Charlie, “but the good news is from I have heard so far, it shouldn’t get any worse than this.” “Damn” Charlie says. “The bridge & background vocals are him in parts but the Cascio guys chose to do it this way.” He continues.”It’s good publicity right now.”

Charlie explains to me, we listened to it numerous times in the studio, and you could tell from the breathing patterns to the push behind the vocals, its all different, nothing like Michael. Problem is, is that when recording vocals there is no type of pitch control when you go high. They can’t pitch up in other words to fix whoever they had sing it. Michael did not care for this track, he never recorded lead vocals only bits and pieces of a demo. When you record a demo its not stacked. They stacked the finish, Michael would be furious if he were alive, he never did stacking this way, it’s not his production style. When he stacked a track he did it all with vocals, as you can hear on the Dangerous album. It’s not like the old days when they recorded in analogue. When you first record a track you’ll record a demo, then once its chosen you go back and record everything twice pretty much, one is higher and one is lower, basically for the sound in the left ear and the right. Demos are recorded in mono, not as rich and thick like a finished track, what it sounds like is that they placed Michael’s voice dead center, and had whoever they brought in, possibly this guy Jason, to record the stacking and placed his on the right and left. If you listen hard Michael’s there but its far too saturated. It’s over done, its simply not his style. However, you have to remember that whatever you’re going to hear from now on will never be a finished polished product the way Michael would have wanted because of the simple fact that none of it was fully finished. So they are left to decide what to do with them because they don’t want to put demos out. What Michael wanted to do and what the world wants are two different things. I think they wanted to duplicate and make the kind of money they did with This Is It last year, so they release the album just before the holidays and hope that they go platinum with this LP. I honestly think though that this single is going to hurt album sales. They are trying too hard to get something catchy, Invincible style but the fact is that Invincible was short lived. They’re attempting to go overly poppy with this LP and its not going to work.

The thing is, Cascio’s music ideas don’t work, he’s a very intelligent guy, don’t get me wrong. The family is in the restaurant business but Cascio was pretty much in the right place and the right time for Michael to take an interest in him becoming his personal manager. Now Mr. Cascio wants to cash in and finish the record. He was shopping for post production and engineering volunteers to finish the tracks (hence Teddy Riley confirming today on Twitter that he was not compensated for his post production on the track). I wouldn’t be surprised if his dad is in charge of the whole thing. Those vocals that Michael recorded were done in the Cascio’s dad’s studio. Michael’s there but Cascio wanted to push himself, he always pretends he’s got the contacts, but never went anywhere in music. Sure you may have contacts but it doesn’t mean they want to work with you. Towards the last 3 years of his life Michael was trying to produce more for other people. He was trying to get the Black Eyed Peas to let him produce for them. Do you remember those rumours about that rapper guy (cardanal?!?), what I believe is that they could have had this song written for a rapper, but what makes no sense to me is why have a knock off singer, a rapper would have made a little more sense since Michael never recorded the versus.

Jason on the other hand, well he was doing his regular singing when he started doing his knock off singing like MJ. Ever since then he’s blown up even though the music is trash, but I just wonder now if they paid him out. If not, he’ll probably get publishing credits and royalties from the album and if so, everyone and anyone involved in publishing will find out. That’s pretty funny and he’ll be sitting there collecting checks. At the end of the day, I hope they deliver the rest of it in an upright way because honestly what they have now, Michael would be furious! “Breaking News” is horrible.

Newly remixed “Hold My Hand” up next?

Posted in: 8th November 2010

This is unconfirmed, but word out there is that Sony will premiere a newly remixed version “Hold My Hand” a song previously leaked online, some time next week. The feeling is this maybe the new single. The track features the vocals of Akon, and the original version is still available online via sites such as YouTube.com

Latoya: “Breaking News” is NOT Michael

Posted in: 8th November 2010

Add La Toya Jackson to the list of Jackson family members who don’t think the new song “Breaking News” really contains Michael Jackson’s voice. As previously reported, Michael’s mom, Katherine, and two of his kids, Prince and Paris, don’t believe it’s really Michael’s voice on the song Sony released on Friday.

When TMZ asked La Toya about it yesterday, she said, “I listened to it … It doesn’t sound like him.”

New Album Stalled, Friends and Family Fighting

Posted in: 28th October 2010

It’s not easy putting out this new Michael Jackson album. In fact, it’s turned into a war among family and friends.
There are big, big problems concerning which tracks to put on an album of unreleased material that’s supposed to be in stores for Christmas. Right now, even as you read this, Sony Music is struggling with all the parties involved to finalize details and start making CDs.

The biggest issues have come because of what’s known as the “Cascio” tracks. Five of them are so good that they’ve been slated for inclusion. But there’s the rub. According to sources, co-executor John McClain has poisoned the water with Katherine Jackson regarding the Cascio family. On Monday, Mrs. Jackson apparently insisted that no tracks from the Cascio sessions be included.
Adding to the anti-Cascio field are Tito Jackson‘s sons, known as the 3 T’s. The middle T, Taryll, is said to be very bitter about the Cascios. “For years the T’s tried to get Michael to record their songs,” says an insider. “Now they’re faced with the fact that Michael recorded with the Cascios, and not them. They’re not happy.”

Adding to the trouble is that the T’s and McClain have evidently drawn Michael’s two eldest children into the fight. Prince and Paris were with their father when he stayed at the New Jersey home of close family friends Dominic and Connie Cascio from August to November, 2007. They witnessed their father working with Cascio sons Eddie and Frank, and singer Bobby Ewing.

The Ts, who are close to the children, especially Terrell, according to sources, have pressured the children to say the vocals on the tracks are not those of their father. Initially, Prince Jackson, 13, had vouched for the recordings. But recently, an email was sent to the estate’s executors from Paris, 11, claiming the voice belongs to an impostor. The only problem, sources say, is that the email was time stamped while Paris was in school.

In the end, it may not matter what the Ts, Michael’s children, or his mother, or John McClain thinks. Sony made a deal with the estate earlier this year that could be worth $200 million. They’re so keen on the Cascio tracks they even hired forensic audiologists to make sure the vocals are Michael’s and not those of an imitator. The Jackson family will likely have to accept those findings and let the estate and Sony proceed with the album.

New MJ Album Delayed?

Posted in: 19th October 2010

“That album of Michael Jackson‘s unreleased material? I’ll tell you what: it’s in limbo.

Later this week we may get a sharper picture of what’s going on. But this much I’ve surmised from talks with various sources. The best material available really comes from those sessions with Eddie Cascio in New Jersey circa summer 2007. Some of the songs were already written by Eddie’s brother Frank Cascio and recorded as demos with a local singer named Bobby Ewing. Michael put his vocals on them during that time he stayed with the Cascios in New Jersey.

At first there was a lot of skepticism about the tracks. I’m told that co-executor John McClain questioned whether the vocals were really Michael’s, or faked. But they are Michael’s. And they will be needed to round out the selections. Teddy Riley and a couple of other producers have worked to fix up the Cascio tracks for release.

McClain was also working on tracks. It’s unclear how these have gone. I’m told, not so well. Many of them are outtakes from “Invincible,” an album that wasn’t so good in the first place. And no one’s bothered to approach Michael’s engineer, Bruce Swedien, about tracks from “Thriller” or “Bad” he might have in his archives.

There’s truly confusion now in the inner circle about how to proceed. Sony is waiting for delivery but there’s no album art or concept. As for a cover: I am told McClain commissioned one a la “Sgt. Pepper” with a montage of drawings or caricatures of people in Michael’s life whom he admired.”

Accusations Fly in Sudden Deaths of MJ Giraffes

Posted in: 24th January 2010

The owners of two celebrity giraffes — which once belonged to Michael Jackson and roamed freely in Neverland – are crying

“foul play”

after the animals mysteriously died.

PETA sounded alarms this morning when news broke of the giraffes deaths, pointing fingers at the Banjoko Wildlife Preserve in Page, Arizona — where the giraffes had been living since 2006 — claiming the preserve was responsible for the deaths due to

“improper feeding and/or exposure to cold temperatures.”

TMZ spoke with the Banjoko Preserve founder, Freddie Hancock, and she tells us –

“We suspect foul play with the giraffes. There is no other explanation for their deaths. There is currently a police investigation going on. Someone has hurt these giraffes, they were healthy.”

A necropsy is currently underway to establish an official cause of death — but Hancock insists the animals were well taken care of:

“There is no sign of infection, abuse, or neglect.”

The giraffes — named JJ and Rambo — had been at the center of a vicious legal battle between Banjoko and the local city council over a $100,000 bond to cover the animals in case of emergency.

Captain EO Will Return to Disneyland

Posted in: 17th November 2009

According to Roger Friedman,  “Captain EO” will be returning to Disneyland.

The word from Hollywood is that Disneyland is planning to revive Michael Jackson’s 3D film beginning in January. Heavily influenced by “Star Wars,” the 1986 short film was produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Back in those days, Michael had the money from “Thriller” to make anything happen.

Among the cast: Michael, Anjelica Huston, Dick Shawn — the latter died less than a year after “Captain EO” was released.

It’s the 3D version coming back to Disneyland, but you can watch a less complex version on YouTube.

“Captain EO” was pulled from Disneyland years ago. But with Jackson’s “This Is It” up to about $220 million worldwide, interest in him is rekindled. It’s another tragic irony for Jackson. And, believe it or not, the “This Is It” companion CD looks like it sold well over 125,000 copies last week — even though it’s just greatest hits.

“Captain EO” contains a video of Jackson dancing and singing a song called “We Are Here to Change the World.”

No word yet on whether Huston or any of the other “Captain EO” cast members will get paid for this revival. According to sources, Disney has the right to use the film whenever it wants to. I’m told they’re even thinking of having a premiere — with a red carpet — if they can get Jackson family members to attend. Hey, La Toya — you should call them right away!

MJs Dream Of Peter Pan Theme Park

Posted in: 7th November 2009

It has long been rumored that Michael Jackson dreamed of a theme park based on the J.M. Barrie story of “Peter Pan.” A theme park complete with looping roller coasters, 3-D flight simulators, water rides, stunt shows, dinner theater, nighttime spectaculars and hotels. Well now, on the Disney and More blog, you can read the full story of how the dream almost became a reality, including blueprints and concept art from the envisioned project.

In 1997, the King of Pop partnered with Burbank-based Landmark Entertainment Group — the creators of the Spider-Man ride at Islands of Adventure and the Jurassic Park water ride at Universal Studios Orlando — to draft a plan for Peter Pan’s Neverland theme park.

The concept for Peter Pan’s Neverland envisioned a grand entrance into Victorian London with replicas of Kensington Gardens, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament. Once past the grand entrance, guests would then go to Neverland Island, and Landmark designers had designed two different ways to go there, both of which were attractions. Guests could either go by boat or they could “fly!” During the short boat ride the boat would have go through mysterious caves before arriving at Neverland Island with its lush vegetation and waterfalls. In the flying option, guests would have sat on a platform which would have turned down on a 50 degrees angle and a movie would have been projected on a huge Omnimax dome located under the platform, giving to the guests the illusion of flying over London and Neverland – led by Tinkerbell, of course!

On Neverland Island, there would have been six themed lands:
* Lost Boys Woods
* Mermaid Lagoon
* Indian Village
* Pixie Kingdom
* Pirate’s Village
* Future Zone

No price tag or location was ever announced for the ambitious project, and the partnership dissolved after a few years.

Joe Jackson Allegedly Behind Death Threats

Posted in: 6th November 2009

Joe Jackson is accused of running a campaign of terror against a former associate who is trying to prove Michael Jackson had an illegitimate son.

TMZ has obtained a request for a restraining order filed last week against Joe and his son Randy Jackson in San Francisco County Superior Court.

In the docs, a man named Ronnie Newt claims he was threatened by Joe’s henchmen after he approached Joe with information that he believed proved Michael is the father of a 12-year-old boy named Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson. In the past, Newt told TMZ that Joe denied the kid was Michael’s.

According to the documents, Newt claims

“I was told to stay out of the M.J. love child story. That some one could get kill [sic] for that kind of money.”

Newt also warns that if he turns up dead in the near future, authorities should suspect foul play. He’s demanding the Jackson’s and their associates stay 50 yards away from him at all times.

UPDATE:
TMZ spoke with Joe, who tells us the death threat allegations are completely bogus and added,

“I haven’t even seen this guy since the ’80s.”

Birthday Burial for Michael Jackson Dad Says

Posted in: 17th August 2009

How better to celebrate Michael Jackson’s would-be 51st birthday than by burying him?

That’s the plan, at least according to his dad, Joe Jackson. The family statesman told the NY Daily News that Jackson will finally be laid to rest on August 29 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Joe told the paper the burial plans were just finalized over the past few days.

We’ve been told Jackson’s body is being kept above ground at Forest Lawn and is being kept in a freezer.
