George Lopez Takes The Stand

Posted in: 29th March 2005

After the judge’s ruling in the Michael Jackson’s trial, comedian George Lopez took the stand and told about helping Jackson’s current accuser as the boy battled cancer. Lopez said he came to believe the boy’s father was more interested in money than helping his son. He testified the father accused the comedian of stealing $300 from the boy’s wallet.

Lopez said he finally cut off the family because of the father’s frequent and aggressive requests for help. When the father asked what he was supposed to tell his son, Lopez testified that he responded: “Tell him his father’s an extortionist.”

The defense contends Lopez, star of the ABC sitcom “George Lopez,” is among celebrities who were targeted by the accuser’s family in schemes to make money. But prosecutors contend that any such schemes were the work of the boy’s father, who is now divorced from the mother.

Juror’s To Hear Old Allegations Within Two Weeks

Posted in: 29th March 2005

Michael Jackson’s jury will begin hearing allegations of past sexual misconduct against the singer in about two weeks.

The judge’s decision to allow in old, unproven, allegations could make the prosecution’s job easier. It may also add weeks to the trial, as Jackson’s lawyer promises to show past accusers were motivated by greed.

Prosecution Witness Bob Jones

Posted in: 29th March 2005

Michael Jackson’s former PR guy is not going to lie for his ex-boss. And that’s a good thing.

Bob Jones, who was with Jackson for over 20 years and knows all his secrets, got caught in the whirlpool of the pop star’s scandal yesterday.

In court, District Attorney Tom Sneddon fingered Jones as a key witness who would come in and testify that he saw inappropriate activity between Jackson and an underage boy.

But it turns out that Sneddon may have gotten his signals crossed. Apparently, he got his hands on a book proposal submitted by agent Laurie Liss of the Sterling Lord Literistic Agency in New York. The proposal was co-written by sometimes Jackson associate and sometimes cable news network contributor Stacy Brown and Dennis Love.

In the proposal, Brown and Love claimed that Jones had seen Jackson do something “inappropriate” to the boy who received a $20 million settlement from Jackson in 1994. But later in court, defense attorney Tom Mesereau announced that Jones had recanted his statement.

He’s very upset about the book proposal getting out and having something wrong in it. In fact, if Jones takes the stand he will only say that he saw Jackson curled up in airplane seat with the boy on a trip home from Europe. No kissing, touching, licking or anything else.

Bad News As Former Aid Will Surprise Jackson

Posted in: 29th March 2005

The single biggest problem in the Michael Jackson case, in fact, has been Michael’s inability, or rather insistence, on making enemies out of people who could help him.

Bob Jones is one.

His ex-wife Debbie Rowe and former business partner Marc Schaffel are two more.

There’s one more. But that person, who shall go unnamed for now, will surprise him even more.

Jackson Suffering From Lack Of Spin Control?

Posted in: 29th March 2005

One of the biggest problem’s with Michael Jackson’s team is a complete lack of spin control or guidance present at the courthouse or in Santa Maria.

Michael Jackson’s current PR manager, Raymone Bain, wasn’t here to interpret yesterday’s major ruling on his alleged “prior acts” of sexual abuse. Miss Bain was spotted on TV later last night acting like an expert, but that didn’t help anyone in Santa Maria.

Of course, lack of funds would preclude Bain from being here on a regular basis, but the absence of someone in charge is keenly felt.

New Evidence: Child Will Testify

Posted in: 28th March 2005

In breaking developments in the Michael Jackson trial:

One “prior child,” Sneddon said, will testify to three separate instances during which his genitals were touched by Jackson. On two occasions the child was fondled outside his clothes, and once the singer “thrust” his hands inside the boy’s pants. It seems likely that the boy in question here is the son of Blanca Francia, a former Neverland Ranch maid. The woman and her son, now in his mid-20s, reportedly received a $2 million legal settlement from Jackson in 1994 (and both were included on the prosecution¹s list of potential trial witnesses).

Macaulay Culkin and Wade Robson Named As Victims

Posted in: 28th March 2005

Melville told a packed courtroom that he will allow prosecutors to present testimony that Jackson previously molested five boys, including actor Macaulay Culkin and choreographer Wade Robson. That evidence, Melville ruled, is admissible to show a pattern of “grooming” on the entertainer’s part as well as the molestation itself.

1990 $2.4 Million Settlement To Be Heard In Trial

Posted in: 28th March 2005

The judge in Michael Jackson’s child molestation trial ruled Monday that the prosecution may present testimony about past allegations against the pop star involving five boys, including two who reached multimillion-dollar civil settlements with the singer.

Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville ruled after hearing arguments by District Attorney Tom Sneddon and vigorous opposition by defense attorney Thomas Mesereau Jr.

The judge said he would allow testimony about alleged sexual offenses and an alleged pattern of “grooming,” or preparing the boys for molestation.

The prosecution had sought to introduce testimony about seven boys, but the judge declined to allow evidence about two.

The judge said he would allow testimony by a 1990 accuser who received a $2.4 million settlement from Jackson and testimony by that boy’s mother.

A boy who reached a multimillion-dollar settlement from Jackson in 1993 will not testify. Other testimony will be allowed from people who allegedly have knowledge of the case.

The judge said the jury can be told that Jackson reached settlements with the 1990 and 1993 accusers but may not be told the amounts, unless the defense brings them up.
